Meet Our Team

Blending Faith & Academics for Whole-Child Development

We are grateful for our staff and many volunteers for the commitment and love they pour into Vine & Branches and our children and families on a daily basis!

We each have a unique skillset, but what makes us amazing together is that each one shares a love for Jesus and loves showing Him to the world through our lives and our careers.

Director Lieschen McKeever, Childcare Director

Lieschen McKeever fulfilled the Childcare Director position at Vine & Branches Lutheran Church and Childcare in December of 2024. With experience in educational settings for both special needs and general education, Lieschen has dedicated the last nine years to working with children across all age groups, ranging from newborns to teenagers, and their families. Lieschen holds a bachelor’s degree in Consumer Science with a minor in Business Management from North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa. Born and raised in the small town of Randfontein, in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, Lieschen moved to America after completing her education.

Before joining the Vine & Branches family, Lieschen was employed as the Interim Director at Heights Academy Preschool in South Riding for two years. Her career in Early Childhood Education began when she joined Optimal Beginnings as a RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) where she worked on basic skills development and implemented Individualized Behavior Plans for students with Autism between the ages of two and seven. Lieschen attributes her love for the field of Childhood Education to her time at Optimal Beginnings where she developed a wealth of knowledge about the developmental processes that happen in the foundational years of childhood.

Lieschen considers herself a creative soul. Some of her favorite past-times include spending time with family and friends, serving at church, baking, and going on adventures in the great outdoors with her husband and two daughters.

Lieschen is thrilled to be a part of Vine & Branches where she gets to share the love of Jesus with children, teachers, and families every day and says her favorite part of the day is all of the hello and goodbye hugs from our young ones!

Juliya Olmo, Curriculum Coordinator

Juliya is so glad to be part of this wonderful school community as our Curriculum Coordinator. She spent over 18 years caring for children through both work and volunteering, and is passionate about helping each child thrive in every area of life.

Juliya was born in Krasnyy Luch, Ukraine, in the Luhansk Oblast province. Some of her favorite childhood memories are of summers on her grandparents’ farm in Smolyanynove, helping care for animals and tend the vegetable fields. When her family immigrated to the Seattle area at age six, Juliya experienced the unique blend of growing up between two cultures. Her interest in early childhood development began in middle school and has remained a lifelong passion. Around the same time, Juliya started volunteering in her church’s children’s ministry, which sparked a love for teaching and serving families.

After high school, Juliya studied theology and church leadership through Portland Bible College while completing an internship at a local church. This included hands-on training in children’s ministry, creating warm, engaging, and enriching environments for kids and families. In 2013, Juliya moved to the DMV area, where she met her husband, Joey, at church. They married in 2016 and now have four wonderful daughters who fill their lives with joy and keep them on their toes.

Over the years, Juliya has served in many ministry roles, including children’s pastor and ministry leader, and also led her church’s youth ministry along with her husband for several years. Professionally, Juliya has worked as both a preschool teacher and curriculum coordinator, designing creative lessons that make learning meaningful and fun. She also spent eight years as a nanny, gaining valuable hands-on experience with children of various ages. Additionally, she's held several administrative roles—including financial director, administrator, and project manager, strengthening her leadership, organization, and communication skills.

At home, Juliya is a proud mom who loves watching her girls grow and discover the world. In her free time, she enjoys being with family and friends, getting creative with art and graphic design, and finding small ways to bring joy and fun into everyday life.

“I’m excited to partner with our teachers and families to create a nurturing, joyful environment where every child can learn, grow, and shine!” -Juliya

Early Childhood Educators

When you tour our campus and see the classrooms, you’ll be introduced to our many incredible Early Childhood Educators who pour into the children each day. We can’t wait for you to meet them.

Volunteers

We also have a team of volunteers and a Board of Servant Leaders that keeps Vine & Branches running behind the scenes.

Parents

We are so thankful for the parents who dedicate time volunteering in the classrooms and beyond, and donating special meals and needed items to our teachers—you all make Vine & Branches a wonderful place to be and constantly share the heart of Christ with us!

Merle & Phyllis

Meet our resident geese! Named after a lifelong Lutheran couple we all admire, Merle and Phyllis are a long-standing pair who have been roosting on our property since 2018. When you are looking toward our building, check out the small hill to the left of our childcare parking lot for a glimpse of Phyllis on her nest (during gosling season).

Our entire campus gets an up-close view of their nest and lives! Merle knew what he was doing when he chose a childcare for their habitat, but unfortunately for them we are unable to enroll goslings at this time. Remember to give the happy couple a wide berth—they are just as protective of their eggs and young as we are.
