Get to Know Chris Conkling

“Everyone has a story to tell. God continues to write us into His own.”

Hello, my name is Chris. Most call me “Pastor Chris” (The little ones just call me “Pastor.”). As a Mid-westerner who loves history and has a weak spot for various types of ethnic cuisine, Northern Virginia is the perfect place to call home. I have a wonderful wife who daily shows me God’s grace and a dog who daily needs mine.

I have now served as a Pastor for six years and have just celebrated my one-year anniversary as Pastor of Vine & Branches Lutheran Church & Childcare in Aldie, Virginia. My passion for bringing Jesus to others comes from my own story of faith. Jesus has walked with me through many trials and continues to refine me through Scripture and through His endless grace. There is no greater reward in ministry than watching another person receive the joy only Jesus gives and being encouraged by stories of God’s work in their lives.

In John 15:5, Jesus tells us that we, the branches, will bear fruit by remaining in Him, the Vine. As a pastor, I strive to encourage others to remain in the Vine and find their joy in Him alone.

We were created to be in daily conversation with our Lord. My time with the Lord is a daily, morning practice of prayer, followed by hearing the Bible (whether read, listened to, or both) which is taking me through the Bible in a year. The remainder of my day involves prayer based on circumstance. Any day without time in the Word or time in prayer leaves me empty, as though I am missing something.

My personal hobbies include board games, computers, museums, and trap shooting. I am incredibly blessed with a supportive family and congregation who have played a significant role in my faith story.

I would love to hear your story! Please reach out to me with any questions, prayer requests, or just to chat. Let’s discover what God is presently writing in your life.

Lord’s blessings,
Pastor Chris
